Fiocchi Perfecta Ammo - new box with tarnished brass

    Hi team, happy Friday.

Just a query on some Fiocchi Perfecta .270 ammo I bought today from a store I usually try to avoid, but sometimes needs must. This was on sale $24 cheaper than Winchester Super-X, which I used to buy.

Got home, opened the box, and the brass that wasn't hard up against the plastic insert was all tarnished, and the lead SP was sort of furry. Never seen new ammo tarnished like that. Pics below.

Has anyone used this ammo? Or had the same experience? Be good to get your collective thoughts. At this stage I'm assuming it's been sitting on a shelf for a long time, so planning on returning it, and upgrading - reminding myself that you get what monkeys you pay peanuts for, and cry twice.

    Thanks.

personally I can see nothing wrong with it.....ammunition sitting on shelf for how many years??? and yet wee will happily fire off milserp from early last century without failure.....
try giving it a wee whipe with a scotchbrite and you may find what MINOR discoloration is there will go away.

Yes, I read that caberslash. With any luck, I'll see how it goes Sunday!

These perfectas have the best groupings for me over anything else factory I've used, and much cheaper!

I burn a bit of .308 ammo doing pest control work and changed from Super-X to Perfecta about 18 months ago. I'm just not gonna pay $55 for a box of soft point .308
It looks just like yours. Some of the primers have a slightly furry appearance too, as though it has been stored in a damp environment.

Had no problems at all. Shoots about 2 moa in my beat-up Remington 700 (easily sub-moa with Federal blue box)
The 150 gr SP .308 projectiles are actually boat tails, have recovered a few and they show good expansion and no sign of shedding jackets.

Great to hear guys, thank you. 'A bit furry and tarnished' matches the description of what will be shooting it... and who will be shooting it.

Go shot it and be prepared to be shocked as it's very accurate ammo in two different rifles I tried it In. Like .5 moa it is a bit slow but kills well. And best of all its cheap....

Tarnishing isn't the problem. The problem is that it's .270...

Ive used plenty 270 and still have some left. In the same condition as yours and it shoots great.
