Tikkas, Howa, even the Rem 700 and model 7 are good but as said find one you like and fits you well. Caliber , well the skies the limit, I have various ones and they all work, but anything like the 308,7mm 08 or 260 Rem are good. If you don't mind a bit more recoil 3006, 270, 7mm Mag or even the 300 Win Mag are good choices. You will also need to consider where you hunt, bush or open? as the caliber choice should then be more suited to the environment. eg 300 Win Mag for longer range compared to a 308 for bush hunting.

Tikka t3x.......Heard they have a smooth bolt, Can shoot 1/2" MOA @ 100y (I am buying one at the end of the year). Also, they don't need breaking in......1-3 shot and its good to go. Also, heard the T/C compass is a good gun. For a calibre 270 and 7mm08 are both flat flying cartrridges, a .308 has a bit more drop and curviture while flying at longer ranges. Put a DPT supressor to tame the recoil and noise. Depends what you want to do.......If it was me I would go for the 7mm08 or .270. If you want to go bush, buy a .308, cut the barrel and chuck a suppressor on it. But if you want to shoot medium ranges and bit of bush go for a 7mm08 or 270. I am buying 7mmRM, but like @Mooseman said...... it is about the enviroment you want to hunt in.
