    Military "wise" gunsmith in Wellington?

Im looking at an A2 Ishapore Enfield (7.62NATO)....seems to be a comment from reading their history that these would need checking before a .308 could be fired safely. So are there any gunsmiths in Wellington I could take this to for checking? Apparantly the headspace might differ, so at min it needs to be gauge checked.

    Any other thoughts?

Cool but, this is a 1965 gun and a bit of a punt, so I'd like a gunsmith to check it to make sure its totally safe anyway.

I've used both Mitch and Scott, both excellent service and reasonable price.

Steven, Mitch is a good contact to have for target stuff specifically, also very good on 308 and Remington 700 actions.

Scott did all the work on my hunting rifles

I'm still looking myself, kind of getting the impression that I maybe to late in the day to get anything good enough to bother with, unless lucky.

This might be of interest if you haven't seen it already. Collecting and Shooting the Military Surplus Rifle (2006) - Surplusrifle.com

A rifle that is well worth getting if it is a shooter, just be sure to run mild loads and you'll be happy. Am quite jealous as I've always wanted one, but can't justify any more enfields
