This is my latest M7. Long story bought it in 708, could never get it to shoot anything accurately, sprayed shots over 2 or 3in or worse. Grrrr. Figured the bbl was poked, everything else was in order. So picked up a 260 bbl off here that “had not done many rounds”. Sent it off to Jaco, just got it back chopped to 18in. Dropped it back into CF stock this avo & fitted the Kahles. Looks the bees knees. Next stop some hand loads & trip to range.
Have to give a big shout out to @JacoGoosen , brilliant job on the 284 & 260.

    Let’s revive an old thread.

I have recently brought a Mod 7 and sorted the horrid trigger. Now I’m on the lookout for a carbon stock and was under the impression aftermarket carbon stock options were plentiful. Turns out there is a difference between the 700 and the Model 7 so probably should have done my research a bit better.

Anyway, are there any carbon stock options readily available in NZ?

I drilled a dirty fat hole or maybe two, way down deep into my Model Seven it ended up making the stock about 600 grams, what's CF do weight wise? And not end up with that noisy scratchy sound.

Did you take any pics of the holes, interested to see what you did? My model 7 saum has a real weighty stock that could do with a diet
It takes 20 barrels of water to make 1 barrel of beer...

I think @Tahr has got a pretty lightweight one. Maybe not your cup of tea, but definitely light….

Used a 20 mm forstner bit. Plus extension. Went down as deep as I dared with the center hole about to the pistol grip. Two more holes not quite so deep. Took my time.

16 or 17 ounces from memory with a wildcat composite, I got my 20 inch Model 7 260 rem down to 4lbs 11oz

This thread seems a bit old now, which is a shame because I just joined the club and got a SS Model 7 in .260. I’ve been after one since I first laid eyes on a mates 308 almost 30 years ago. Finally found one at a time where I was able to afford it. It came with a Vortex 4-12 scope in Talley rings which I’ve swapped out for a Leupold VX1 3-9 as the Vortex is quite a big scope on a compact rifle. Th main plan with it will be to get my boy behind it. I have a Browning .270 but the stock is just too long for him. It’s threaded already so I will get a suppressor in the new year just to take any recoil out of it but I find it pretty soft shooting already.
Once I’ve got a bit more cash I will get a carbon stock, Swarovski z5 2-10.
Does anyone have recommendation for aftermarket stocks for these mighty little bang sticks?

Hell the thread is old, but bring it back to life.

If you can find a Manners EH8 that's the ultimate M7 stock in my view

I suffered a momentary lapse of reason last week, and damn near gave my mod 7 308 to good mate for his 50th.
