I agree with Spudattack .. they are a bit too common
    He's a shit shot anyway

Looking at a deluxe now instead, it's a bit more shiny.

Sako, typical kiwi response really, for some really special footwear to go with the rifle you could get some bullers and to top it off for the hotter days a pair of extra special jandels.

Got to have some sort of traditional feel to it mate. May even go whole hog and find some beige stubbies and an old blue/black checkered swanni

Cool thread and awesome idea on the family's behalf.

What about something really different - Flint lock, muzzle loader etc? Could be a good way of showing his future youngins how things used to be.

Brand new or absolutely as brand new.

ChrisW should be able to tell you the availability of a Sako 85 Deluxe, calibres etc.

Nah he needs more than two shots normally! And I only have a week to coordinate this all now, so unfortunately something a bit more available needs to be decided on.

What ever the final lovely choice is, would it be worth getting a silver inlay made with some details of the auspicious occasion engraved and set into the stock as a special touch ??. If a booking was made today ahead of time with an engraver and in-letter, they could more than likely do it immediately when you get the gun. What could be really cool is if the family has an historic coat of arms that your cobber doesn't know about....
Just some ideas, hope you don't mind my 2c
