    Nightforce scope issue

I've just finished helping out a mate who purchased a brand new 25.06 Tikka T3 and a Nightforce 3-15 scope.

We both struggled to get a 3'' group at 50m!!!! So I took the scope off and put on a spare 2-7x33 Leupold VX1 I had laying around and gave it a go...one ragged hole! Now you don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out that the brand new NF scope is a total lemon. For a scope that cost >$3K and had a QA sticker on it - it all just seams a little shit.

Is this a common thing or did he get the only NF in history to be a lemon?

You might have the only Nightforce in the history of man that's a lemon.

I hope so at the price and reputation they appear to have.

Don't forget these products have to travel to get here, and in conditions that can destroy a packing case or wrapping.
I would say the QC sticker is evidence the product left the factory in perfect condition, it's the conditions during travel that no one can measure or be accountable for.

Even the best manufacturers produce a lemon now and again.
Should be sorted on warranty without any problems, just crap that your mate has to wait to get it sorted.

But they also use a selling point of one with a bullet hole that"carried on in service till a replacement could be got"
So a bit of bumps etc shouldn't do shit that's why ya buy the good scopes
They don't fall apart when used

Hmmm I'm a devout Nightforce fan & up until recently thought they were "bullet proof" as per their popular picture but experienced a scare just before a hunt across the ditch. On checking my drops at long range the turret decided to turn a whole 1/2 moa before clicking occasionally I thought the grub screw must have been loose but when checked found it tight. I backed out grub screw, lifted up cap then reseated, re tightened & all seems ok. I'm still waiting for the problem to re occur again. I guess this highlights that every manufacturer can have problems - I even know of a S&B PM2 that had to go back with turret issues.

Will I still stick to nightforce......yes.....but will always be mindfull that even one of the best can have issues from time to time.

Not if it's shifting zero through recoil.

    Yip,

Shouldn't be any need to worry if it proves to be a fault with the scope.
I recently returned a one piece set of Nightforce rings and was blown away with the after sales service from my local supplier and the USA based Nightforce guy. They both really stood behind their product, just took some time.

The joys of using manufactured equipment

Even the best have issues occasionally, which can be an issue if sourced off shore rather than a local distributor.

Thank god I purchased my NF locally through Deadeyes. Their prices are starting to be keen enough to make shopping overseas a non event. If the scope does a repeat performance at least I'll be dealing with someone locally.

    Gutted, should've bought a Tasco

Haven't heard of anyone with a faulty Nightforce before. Got to be the odd one though for sure. One would think as heavy and tough as they're made they'd handle a fair bit of a abuse though?
