I suspect the extra recoil of a 270 or 30-06 would still be likely to intimidate a newby shooter. I'd go something in the 6.5x55/260/7mm08/308 range. Suppressed and not too light in weight.

    I thought to much gun?
This thing will get beaten, dropped and generally abused so was thinking more tikka/rem than sako.

I would have thought 30-06 a bit heavy on recoil for novices.

I think you just described a perfect situation for 7-08, tikka, dpt modular, limb saver optilocks and that vx3 you just sold.

30-06 is the way to go particularly should you get and Yank clients, they will love it.

Something like a Tikka T3 s/s in .270, .280 of 30-06 with a VX-3 4.5-14x40 LR and a quality suppressor. Recoil will be negligible with a suppressor and any of these have the legs and energy to achieve what you are wanting.

    Blaser R8. 6.5x55 140GR Amax.
Heavy, but also safe and easy to see what state your client has the rifle in with its cocking system. Also something a little different and nicer for some of your clients to have a play with.

And a good excuse to get another one without looking like a giant hypocrite

Mate I've hunted with 3 different groups with blasers in the last 3 weeks.
None have impressed me at all to be honest
