Thread: ruger american vs savage axis

hi all im in the process of selling my marlin x7 223 as I need something that has a detach mag as I only have one good hand and find the internal on the marlin hard

I will have a max budget of $700ish
in that price range there's really only 2 options

ruger American or savage axis both rifles are chambered in 223.. the rugers are new in 223 so they are not here yet but only a few days away (within a week) according to ruger distributor here in nz

the reviews on both rifles seem to be pretty equal
the only thing that separates the two seems to be the fact the ruger is 1:8 twist vs savage 1:9

so what one should I go with
