Bought one in 7mm RM last month, love it. Just back in the country and want to stick with European manufacturers, so this was the most economically viable option for me at the mo. So far can't really review it too much, just a rushed sight-in and nothing else, but will be heading out over the next week or so. Had it out on an overnighter and was settling in on a spiker but slipped down the bloody bank. I don't know who was laughing harder, the spiker or me!

The wooden models may be quite nice.

I hate the plastic stocked version though - feels too plasticky,

Saw the plastic one in the flesh yesterday - not attractive. Very tikka / xbolt esque...

Like most firearms made today. And most products for that matter - very little craftsmanship/planned obsolescence.

The Tikka M55 is a great example of a simple, no frills, mass-produced sporting firearm which was made 'right'. Beautiful trigger, well made stock, excellent barrel.

You could spend 5 grand today and get a worse rifle. I've very much stopped correlating 'quality' with 'price' when it comes to modern factory firearms. It's just hit and miss most of the time unless you go custom...or spend ridiculous amounts of money.

Looks mint. Will you wrap it in the sheep-skin rug while you're in the field?

A contractor that I worked with in the later 90's when I first started in the mines on the coast had a Sauer switch barrel in 6.5-06. He loved that calibre and it shot very well. As an aside he had another barrel of a similar but probably bigger calibre ordered ex US that got hung up in the export process for several years. I caught up with him about 2004ish and amongst polite discussion asked him about it and basically after the twin towers it pretty much got impossible. I think he may've even done his dough on it
