Do you know what twist rate is of your barrels.

I have an 18" barrel on my .243 and have shot about 70 deer in the last 5 months with it. 2/3s of them have been over 300 yards with 10 or so being over 500.
Yet to lose one and many of them have dropped on the spot and the ones that haven't have not made it more than 20 yards.
Getting 2880 fps with 105gr targex and reloder 26. Absolutely hammer deer.
Unfortunately they mightn't stabilise unless you have a faster twist. 95gr sst work well enough though.

Pretty sure it’s a 1/10 twist rate so might need to stick to the lighter bullets I think.,18in barrel seems to be the consensus though.

Just looking at the Remington website and see that they have gone to an 8" twist on their .243, .223 and 7mm Rem Mag rifles. I wonder how many of the other US manufacturers have done the same?

not necessarily......the old remington corlocts were a rather stubbie projectile and might well work..... I wouldnt discount your blue box stuff without trying it either,if as you say your looking at this as a bush rifle...if its holding inside 3" with your hundy grain ,you could still use them for point n shoot, spook n shoot load with something more pin point next up in magazine..or other way around...
really like the concept of a light barnes being stoked along in this cartridge.....the lighter n faster the better..it just has to work.but cheaper bog std heavies have done the bizo for a long time in the EBRG.
    75/15/10 black powder matters

I chopped my Tikka 243 to 17 inches. Couldn't tell you what speed it's doing but it shoots 95 grain Targex pretty good.

He hasn't had any for a while now unless some more have turned up.

Yep he's still waiting for Bergers to do another run of jackets so he can make some more 95gr .243.
He being me, I was talking to them the other day & nothing in sight for a while.
They are looking at putting another jacket making machine in production as soon as they can which will hopefully get things going a bit quicker.
In the mean time I'll just keep making & supplying what I can.
    Cheers, Bryn (Targex)

Over rated. They leave too many dead deer around. True. My son and moi are flinging some around on friday night. The vapour trails are easy. Its then end result which involves the dreaded word ....carrying.
