Going to 50mm and a 30mm is getting away from what made the Z5 3.5-18 x44 a classic for NZ hunting.

Now, if they do a ++ model with cm adjustment, FFP, and simple thick/thin reticle for lo/high mag that would be the go.
The Z5 was a very long scope so a bit of trunk-ation is in order and bob the long rubbery turret, replace with compact low profile one.

The z5+ was designed especially for the American market and the yanks love 50 and 56mm objectives, they also love larger tactile turrets as often hunting wearing bulky gloves, I actually quite like the turret on them it's no bigger than what you'd find on a lot of other scopes ie Nightforce etc. Agree the old 3-18 was a stupidly long scope, same with all the higher mag Z6 scopes

Has anyone seen if you can get these in MRAD? I don’t think i’ll buy another dial scope in MOA again after making the transition. Bummer the 3-18 only comes with a 50mm objective.

I don't find 50mm a problem as it fits in the same height rings as the old 44mm or 42mm scopes.

My guess is that the weight of glass would go up with the cube of the objective diameter (and the tube diameter).
Nothing wrong with this sort of scope but its optimised more for sitting and low light shooting than for open country carrying.
