your reason for owning a semi

owned one a while ago for me it was because im a leftie a friend had an ar and we were doing some target shooting one day and he let me try it I liked it because there aren't as much left handed bolt actions around and they cost more than a right handed rifle so a semi was good for firing a string of shots at a target without reaching over the rifle to reload all the time the stock and grip set up on it also was comfortable for left handed use without modifications so after a while I saved up and bought one anyone that's followed previous posts will know how it went turned out to be the biggest lemon ive ever bought persisted with it for a while and then got rid of it mine was probably an isolated case tho

Because I want to, that is the only reason to give. No need to justify.

I partake in shooting sports that only really exist because of modern semiautomatic rifles and economical factory ammo. Without either they will die.

I also own them as part of my collecting theme.

I also own and use them for hunting because of their ruggedness. The material and finish on my AR rifles, mean they can be effectively abused in the field with any worry of corrosion, cosmetic blemishes or devaluing. I shit you not, I have been in a situation where my mate was using a Sig 550 as a weed wacker to get us out of a 300m wall of black berry.

If he could afford one of them you think he could have sprung for a machete

I can place one role where I would feel bloody unsafe WITHOUT a semi-auto rifle and that is tight quarters bush with feral cattle beast (scrub bulls - the grumpy ginger bastard types). I've seen them absorb 5 rounds or more of .270 and .243 and only be stopped by one between the eyes...
Lol last time I was hunting in an area with wild cattle, I had my Lee Enfield, praying to not get rim lock at the worst possible time.

My semi is a Model 60 SS. I like the balance and accuracy, and fast follow up shot when shooting multiple rabbits and/or hares.

Hunting with old mil surp rifles is also a niche interest of a friend and me. We were looking at writing a book on it.

I've owned and used Browning BAR's since they became available. Suit me plus I like the instant second shot if required. Plus I 'm left handed and never had a problem with m/t cases or powder blowback.
