    Keep your re overt gear together in a bag away from sunlight and dirt.

    Assorted webbing, rope that's fit for a washing line or whatever is not worth the risk: remember if you're truly stuck you're not pulling just two tonnes plus combined vehicle weights. You're pulling the sucky mud too. Flying snapped (even light) ropes are lethal. No ifs or buts. I've seen it.

    Yes we're spending money and you're on a budget like many of us. Start slow. Accumulate the right stuff. Always ask is it safe.

    Good gear is an investment that will last years longer than your present vehicle.
