Interestingly the new polis forms for prohibited firearms endorsement for pest control amongst other "interesting" stuff asks for details of security arrangements of these "deadly firearms" in storage, transit, and most interestingly during use. Using their expertiese as a guide not leaving it behind in the toilet would be a good start.
But the implication is that lock boxes may be an accepted solution.
