A bit of a shout out for these guys. I recently replaced both batteries in the boat.
Super cheap Auto we’re $345 each

Super start batteries were $279 which included delivery

Check these guys out if you are needing a new battery.

I only bought the SCA home brand one which has a USB outlet and a light

About 240 bucks but that would be over 5 years ago - it seems to do the job ok

If I did it again I'd get one with the onboard compressor for 4WD ing but presumably battery technology has moved on

NOCO, Supercheap. I have done 7-8 jump starts and the charge indicator has only just moved.

I got a Caross brand from Super Cheap a while ago and it seems to do the job.

I just keep an old (but still okay) starter battery in the boot of the truck, with a pair of jumpleads.

Nocco are on sale at both Supercheap and Repco and Repco are slightly cheaper so picked up the Nocco BoostXL GB50 1500W which is rated for diesels up to 4.5L. Nice compact unit which will fit behind the rear seat in the ute. Carrying another battery in a ute is a bit of a pain.

Yeah it works, but risky. Some of those go over 22v, almost 100% over voltage for a standard automotive system. I did see a guy who had one of those slide on converter things that fits to the battery and allows you to connect to it to draw off the battery, and had a converter to drop the voltage to 14v. That went well, but wouldn't be much use for a really flat car battery.
