They also cracked/broke where the front suspension mounts were welded to the chassis.
Nissan claimed it was from having bullbars fitted. I've seen many broken and 99% didn't have bullbars, all were NZ new as well. Nissan didn't do themselves any favours by denying it and blaming owners.
The ZD30 engine was a Renault design/made item and was as good as a soggy biscuit for dunking. Timing chain tensioners were a huge problem among other issues.
