    yeah, well, I've done 0ver 150k in mine and never laid a spanner on it. I hear talk of 25k for a new engine. ( Gulp!!)

    I have mine for one job, towing. It's still standard, no chip or anything. Just got straight pipe on it. XR500 has seen mine in action at his place.

    Bit of gear they are. They like diesel, take almost 10l of oil per change. Little bit agricultural to drive, but I still like it. Love that V8 rumble.

    I've got a good mate who's a really clever Toyota mechanic. He's given me a few tips. Going to do injector seats/seals at 250 kms.

    Got this one in June. Ordered in may 2022. Paid the 2022 rrp less discount, plus tray, towbar, and clean car fee of $5175. Keeping the 2014 hilux for now. I am happy that I got the last of this model. The facelift doesn’t appeal to me.

    The V8 diesel can generate way more power but you have to free it up a bit. Delete the DPF, free exhaust etc. Then they wake up heaps apparently.
    They have them at Macraes where I worked for a couple of years. I thought they went alright but also thought they should've gone way better for an engine nearly twice the size of most normal utes now.

    I was talking to an aussie friend about these the other day. He bought one for 90k, did a couple of mods and then onsold it at a $35k profit. His business runs quite a few of them and they have very good resale value. They recently had one for 6 years, added 160,000kms on it, and resold it for only $5k less than they originally paid for it.
    But dang, $100k+ for a work vehicle is a lot for mere mortals, even if they don't depreciate much!
    I'll stick with my $6k 1990s diesel manual disco 1. Haha

    One benefit to the 70 is the cab isnt the same size as a goldfish bowl. Stepping out of a ranger into the late model hiluxs just feels... cramped. Especially when you have to cuddle the steering wheel just to get four adult blokes into the thing!

    Was a dumb move shifting the diesel tank.
    Mines got the deck lifted quite a bit to get the spare under it.
    Looks like they are starting to go a bit girlie with the new model too.
    Regarding the second hand price, there are people putting their name on the waiting list, driving them for two weeks once they arrive, then flicking them for a ten to fifteen K profit.
    I've heard of a couple of people Toyota won't sell to because of it.
    Overkill is still dead.

    it will be full of electronics and since lead solder is pretty much banned across europe nowadays it will be lead free and brittle as hell.
    took me 3 hours just to resolder one board out of a bmw, god help the owner if it breaks down in the middle of nowhere

    Re the prices, Toyota dealers are the worst for price hiking. They are charging 120k for what should be sub 90k

    If $nz6000 is all we are paying here for one of these new ones , don’t complain too much. Any big V8 cars new arriving in France is an instant €13000 euros of “Eco/green tax “ ($nz26000 ish). Not mentioning your yearly tax on the dam thing and the price of fuel a bit higher than here in nz.

    I paid $200K for my ute in Norway.
    But I can claim back all the GST and depreciation,sell it after five years and its practically free. But yeah,$500 to fill it up hurts a bit.
