    Boot Repair

    Hi all,

My Gri Sports are bloody fantanstic but have noticed the sole is coming away from the leather. Not bad just where it meets and I reckon it compromises water tightness.

What I am after is anyones experience with glueing this up. Obviously needs to be a glue that is strong but flexible as it will move while walking.

Any tips or glues to try peeps?

Gibo get it done at one of those kiosks that does that sort of shit in a mall. That way you don't need to buy more glue than you need and they will have the right stuff.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

Yeah mate I hear ya, was the next plan but though there may be an easy wee fix. Im sure a tube of glue will be cheaper than a shop and I could use the rest to get some quiet time at home

How old are they? I'd take'em back if they aren't that old.

Otherwise I've found the best glue is to use Ados F2 glue. clean the 'wound' spotless and rough it up a bit with some sandpaper then spread the F2 liberally on both sides and let it go tacky. Then press the two sides together and wrap up tight with some bungee cord/ bike inner tube to hold it tight, leave bound up for 24hrs, job done. Also helps to hold the shape of the boot if you stuff it hard with newspaper before you bind it up.

Those kiosks in my experience are a waste of time unless you need your heels redone...

About 18 months old I would guess. Yeah I think I might go your way Hunty. Is that Ados F2 flexible enough? The area's of concern as normal are where the boot bends when on the back foot.
    Thanks mate.

    Thanks mate.

Seems to be fine, have glued a few flexi spots on boots and seems to last fine as long as you prep them properly before gluing. Also heating up the area your gluing with a hairdryer beforehand helps the bond. Good luck!

18 months is a good run! I'm lucky to get a year out of any boots I've owned.
I'm drawn to the mountains and the bush, it's where life is clear, where the world makes the most sense.

They are only worn in the bush, they get a clean and covered in bees wax, then sprayed with waterproof shite after every hunt.

And here's the kicker.....I dont get out close to enough!!!

After going to the bootmaker for years to get minor boot repairs done before they develop into something that's gonna cause dramas in the bush, I finally got onto this awesome product - McNett Freesole.
It's an adhesive that has performed faultlessly with every task I've thrown at it - sole repair, rubber rand around the edge of boots etc.

You may have to 'Google' it to find where you can get it and if you've got the time it's cheaper getting it from the USA [shipping included]. There's also some handing hints on how to use the product on YouTube.
Store it in the freezer to prolong it's self-life and place in a cup of hot water when you want to use it.

If you've used a lot of SnowSeal etc on your boots it may be an idea to clean the repair area with Shellite before glueing.
    Cheers

Ha found already, 20 bucks for 30 ml should do the trick.

    Freesole: Buy Online from Fishpond.co.nz

I try to have a work pair, hunting pair, but because my work pair wears out fast my hunting pair gets sacrificed until I pull the gorse out of my pockets and buy a new pair

What's the Kiwi version of Shellite? Would some thinners work the same to clean wax of leather? Shellite seems to be camping fuel?
