    I looked in to it after a trip which involved a lot of stream/river crossings. It was summer, so cold wasn't an issue, actually quite nice (!), but my boots made one hell of a racquet when wet. There are commercial over boot waders available in the USA, but I came to the same conclusion as you, they get pretty bad reviews related to longevity.
