Which is lighter than OP setup at 2.5 and would still be warmer.

you should try a extra large macpac bag...Im slightly shorter than you, topping out at 6 foot neat and the extra room inside this bag is just awesome,I can actually sleep with arms inside bag on cold night and not cramp up....

Not sure who would carry a 2.5kg bag.

I use a western mountaineering at 900grms, good to -4. I could have had the gortex option that would make it about 1050grms and get all the waterproofing you need.

Weight is always a major consideration, and at the weights mentioned, there are just better options.

If you're a cold sleeper definitely don't go for anything less than a certified-6/7° c bag. I got the o°F kuiu that's-18 c rating with 850 loft down. Sure it's over kill for mild conditions but once the ground gets cold this gives you the warmth you need and you don't have to wear much in them , unlike alot of other light weight bags. The shape and construction of the kuiu is way better than all the other bags I looked at ,probably could have got away with there 15°F bag after I saw how well it was made. The 850 loft down is a big part of the reason they are good. If you want a bag that will last a long time then get a kuiu.!

Western mountaineering bags are good. Got an Apache with a pertex outer. With a R4/5 pad good in any winter conditions. About 850-900 grams. A bit dearer but we’ll made US bags.

Best place to get Western Mountaineering are best sourced from PaddyPallin in AU, as have in stock. US is hard to find a source with reasonable shipping rates. They do a gortex shell also

I ordered a quilt from Enlightened equipment on December December 10. Took only 10 days to arrive. They had a sale on and it cost $430 NZ landed.

I have the Kuiu 0 degree. Bloody awesome bag, I'm 6ft6 and pretty wide and it's the only XL bag I've fit in well. Expensive but nothing beats a good sleep. Will be getting their 15 degree soon to replace my spare MacPac

I don't mind it, I was sceptical being a side sleeper and a wriggler but didn't notice it to be fair, only real complaint was it was too warm for the weather on our Fiordland trip so ended up un zipping it and using it as a blanket for half of it.
its one of the best warmth to weight and price ratios I found and packs down tiny with the included stuff sack so cant really beat it.

Thanks everyone for your input! Ended up going for a macpac epic 600 xl. Then when it turned up it was too short! So went for the rab neutrino pro 600 xl about 100mm longer than the macpac and lighter and the same warmth. Cheers
