I use the Puhoi plastic milk bottles filled with sea water, they are quite square and stack reasonably well.. I seem to get plenty of spaces with coke bottles. I use a blue and green cap system, the green cap signifies salt water, the blue caps are fresh water which i can drink... Apparently salt ice has a much lower salt content than sea water hence the sea water which should last longer ?

Thread resurrection. Just back from a 48 hour trip in warm conditions and less than a cupful of salt ice melted. Pre-cooling certainly seems to make a difference. I loaded the chilly bin the night before the trip with ice blocks, then removed them and loaded up with salt ice and food just before the trip.

dry ice works a treat, it can refreeze the entire bin solid again as the salt ice drips over it so that may be of assistance to you. I had mine sitting in the sun for 4 days and and the beers were still frozen solid, they were room temp when I put them in there.

Chucking frozen bottles into the bin the night before to pre cool the bin makes a big difference.

Nice spot that. Even fishing off the rocks nearby can be productive.
