Looks like the one you made me,is this one’s handle longer than mine though?looks good.

Yeah it's a mini version. Handle is slightly shorter, quite a bit narrower and the blade is 20mm shorter. Thinner stock as well. Needs a reference for scalehttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...70000bc1b0.jpg

@mickey duck, awesome effort mate.
thanks bud...means a lot coming from man of your talents...IF and when I manage to assemble bits to try again (this one was birthday gift and cost is about same as buying a custom) there are a few things I would do differently but this came out as I wanted from moment I had looked at semi formed bit of steel.....I own lots of functional slim, light knives.... this one will do the hard yards without fear of it breaking. the option was there to grind it differently in fact all options were on table, this fits what I said I wanted to do.the fit in my hands is unreal,I can see how the origonal bowie being made to fit end user made it so deadly.
now to go find a bit of venison to blood the thing properly.
I have been approached by a Facebook hunting group to donate a knife for their members to raffle with all proceeds going to Starship Hospital.
Something I feel very proud to be a part of and do something positive .
Mamba Model in 1084 , Madrone timber and Juma lime skin composite handles with G10 liners and pins.
Hopefully it raises a few bucks for a great cause and place.Attachment 200269
A worthy cause...... And a top response.
Full Respect
I bought some knives in Sweden. CG m96 bayonet, CZ bayonet and a Puma " White Hunter" which is a knife I have long fancied. The Puma was produced before 1964 because it dosnt have a serial number on the guard. Its not seen much use either.
I have been commissioned to make a couple of kitchen names.
Firstly is a Nakari, stainless Damascus, G10 and purple/ white Arylic handles.

Boning/butchers knife inspired by the old classic timber handled knives the old boy used to use. Good old classic high carbon steel, with a stabilised swamp kauri handle. Cool piece of timber that is likely a few thousand years old. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...575362f2f1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3fdb5e44fb.jpg

Part 2 of the kitchen knife order. Western style chef's knife.
Blue swirl acrylic handle, G10 fittings, Stainless Damascus, very light and sharp. Attachment 202325
I have had a nostalgic period, and so dug out some of my uncles old knives. Two of my favourite below; the Frosts Laminated is now my go-to hunting knife; the edge it holds is just unreal, and it's small and light for its length.
The "Premier K311 SS Japan" is a bit of a mystery for me; cannot find any info in a google search. It's relatively soft steel, but above average size for a pocketknife and so very nice to use. The smaller blade is very thin and flexible - good for filleting fish etc..

Had this arrive today. First impressions are very good, the handle is slimmer than what I’m used to but feels nimble, and it won’t get lost in a hurry! Savagely sharp too, sharpest out-of-the box knife I’ve owned. The only downside is the kydex sheath, it’s not a snug fit so the knife rattles a bit. But should be easy to fix, and wasn’t unexpected as I’d read a review about it. Look forward to testing it out properly in a few weeks time!

I have been looking at getting that exact knife for a while.
Where did you get it from? As I haven't been able to find a single retailer in NZ with one in stock.
I was referring to the Benchmade Knife that @7.62 posted above Vipers. I somehow managed not to quote his post.
Viper does make absolutely stunning knives though.
Hey mate, I got it from Top Gear. But be advised that I think they run a “lean inventory” (i.e. I think they’re prone to having stuff on their website which they may not have in stock). After I ordered it they contacted me and said it was out of stock but they would contact their supplier. But they ended up finding a couple in their warehouse and it arrived promptly, so all’s well that ends well.
The old model of that knife is out of stock but there’s a few other retailers selling the current model e.g. blademaster, knifeshop etc.

Attachment 207315
what I did here was took blades to a water jet cutting out fit and got them to water jet the tang so a lot smaller than supplied by Tanka San - then shaped antler -into boiling water for 10 min and tapped blade into antler ( center becomes soft ) - used dremel beforehand to inlet antler and once blade in used a strong resin to seal antler around blade -should last -if one goes to Google and searches Matsubara blades Omura Japan Tanaka San there is a video of him in workshop hand forging knives - very old fashioned craftsman
Steel is SF100, handle is packing that was around my deck timber.

How do you find the D2? I'm a fan, but it seems not everyone gets the heat treatment right.
