Good idea for a thread mate. Hopefully some other chaps (including yourself ;) add to it...
My hand made knife, made by Marcos Doran of Custom Knife Worx. Material is 12C27.
It is Marcos's drop point hunter design but with a few mods and extras I wanted, which is the fantastic thing about a custom knife

After using my mates one of these the other week and not needing to sharpen it to bone out two deer - I had to get one.

Moonhunt
That last one if for when the pigs get over 300lbs?
Gerber Metolius... $90 at H & F.
Gave it a good work out last Sunday morning on a young sambar - really impressed with the knife. Gutted, and prepared the young sambar including cutting up through its ribs and it still held its edge perfectly. It held its edge so good that Raging Bull now has a good scar to show for it when trying to turn the deer into a backpack.
Mine have cut more beef and sheep than game, he is the lineup, I have several of the same in the draw as well.
Also in the photo is my small diamond steel, oval diamond steel, a normal steel and my Apex pro kit.
I don't use them much but by cricky they are sharp:thumbsup:

This little shit. I found the grip quite awkward, had a good blade though.

Heres some of my knives, there are quite a few more.
http://i680.photobucket.com/albums/v...g/P1000372.jpg
here is a few of mine.... one is the first knife I owned, lost a few rippers over the years.
http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...-37-04_452.jpg
I haven't used the buck all that much - but if I've got to butcher a sambar (thicker skin)- give me that svord (center top) any day of the week - beautiful knife.
A few others I use to own/still own (sold the top two to pay for the folding Gerber).

Contemplating buying a mercator folder - old man use to have one and swore by it... its a knife everyone has to own at some stage.
Some of you guys have some serious addictions..... a little like me
Nice cutlery boys
crzyman, how well does that apex go?
7mmroks, we need to see em...

Good grief, I didn't realize I had so many:o
They all get used.
There's an old Mercator in my belt pack too.
I am who I am. :)
2nd to back right with the antler handle is a Silver Stag Damascus, and lives on my belt. The one on its left with a bone handle is a Beretta that's had a lot of use 'cos its a good shape for arses and boning. The front right antler handle was made by a chap Brown in the Hawkes Bay. A great knife that stays razor sharp but a little brittle. It comes Tahr hunting with me.
2nd to back left is a custom Hess from the States, and probably the knife I like the most. I use the little Silver Stag the most.
Any one of them would do all I need a knife for.
Thanks for the details. Certainly some nice knives.
Cheers. The white handled one is a Boker 25th Anniversary Ltd Edition. #122/300. Had it for a couple of months. $156NZD landed. Thats good value. The steel is N695 which is similar to stainless 440C. Its a neat knife and taken a good edge. Maybe it will get some use over the roar.
The black leather sheaths are all after market ones from KSF to replace loose or shallow ones that came with the knives.
The most expensive is third to back, left. Its a Chris Reeves from the States. $230USD plus freight. C35V steel. Amazing edge holding but way over priced for doing what the front left Mora can do for $30. Or the rusty old Mercator. I must be nuts.
Theres something about knives, can't just have one of them.
I will eventually design my own hunting/kitchen blades and get some blanks cut (through a local waterjet agent) and then finish them off myself.
Will do research into the choice of steel once the designs are completed. Finding the time is the current problem.
My recent purchase, for Tahr. I was actually motivated to buy this knife after seeing your sons older model on a recent story he uploaded. I did some research and found Svord had a new model out.
My Specifications:
- Wooden Handle (I am fond of the classic look)
- Brass guarded bolster (older Svord didn't have)
- Carbon tool Steel (holds a bloody nice edge)
- Slightly narrower blade than my previous knife
This one fitted the bill.
Svord General Purpose Knife - 6 1/4” Blade, Mahogany scales. (Model:# 870BB)

The only problem I have is with the finish on one side of the handle is lacking, I have sent an email to Mr Baker regarding this issue and will wait an see what he has to say, other than that its feels and looks great.
Cheers,
Raging Bull
Very nice. That will be great for breaking down those big sambar. I agree, its a great shape. What a shame he doesn't make them anymore like that one of the boy's.
Shame about the handle, but it will soon be covered in blood and guts anyway :)
As an aside, does anyone know about cKc branded knives made by Baker of Svord and sold on the internet? How do you order them etc?
Cheers
cKc Knives are custom made by a dude called Kylie known as "knivesandstuff" on youtube.
I have been trying to get hold of one of his knives for ages however it's only a hobby to him and he only makes small batches. All custom made and all to very high standards.
Here's a few I've picked up over the years. Most of the swiss army ones I got from my old man.

Cool, whats that bone handled job, is it carbon or stainless??
Looking at a mates svord pig sticker the other day got me thinking, thinking that i had to have one, so have ordered one but with a micarter handle, have to wait for the blanks to be made again so will post up some pics when i get it
Made this one a couple years ago out of an old Green River blade. I had to grind the handle to a new shape, then rivited walnut and rosewood to make the handle. I've made a sheaf for it too, but don't have a pic of that at the mo.

svord pig sticker | Trade Me
heres one i made a couple of years back in a fit of boredom at work...blade is an old surface planer (buzzer) knife that had lost its mate at some stage timbers are matai kauri jarrah (for a bit of contrast) and the outer fillet is off an old old rosebush burl Attachment 1508Attachment 1509Attachment 1514Attachment 1515Attachment 1516 have done a couple more since and have another on the go at mo but work is flatout at mo so no time for it
If you don't mind me asking, did you pay much extra for the micarter handle? Looks good.
A mate and I re-finished/modified one of my Svords today.
- rounded the blade to more of a droppoint.
- Sanded back the varnish, leveled out the brass pins/bolster/Mahogany scales which were crudely done and rubbed the handle with boiled linseed oil instead (personally preference).
