Yep. Got the 400c. V 1. The latest version has not got here yet, and appears to have more issues than the original. Just running a 20 inch light bar at the mo, but might drop to the 18 inch light bar, cause I can. Thinings are 250-350 dia, so no need for 200mm of bar sticking out the other side. A few things I don't like: those quarter turn filler caps, they are purpose designed to let shit fall into the tanks. The muffler could have been better designed to blow exhaust away from the saw and bar, and for a professional saw to not come with 2 sets of dogs....well.

But the saw revs so beautifully, works hard. I like the captive bar nuts....and she's so light!

Yes I detest the half turn caps...I've dropped tank of fuel twice and oil three times using my wee saw.

My old 026 needs new muffler as original has big hole in her.goes like shit but man it's loud. Are the supposed genuine ones on trade me legit??? Or will I get burned again like did with bar n chain that won't fit anything at all?

Bought a Jonsered 2055w, running a 20” bar, thirty years ago on the advice and help of mate mine who was a forestry manager and instructor back in the day. For power to weight ratio, nothing in its class back then. Never regretted it and has given, and will continue to do so, sterling performance and reliability for years ahead (much like the second wife I acquired at about the same time)

I am, however, now running into timber that’s a tad too big for the wee girl so contemplating something just a bit bigger. Also, have a mechanical log splitter which means I’m a little less picky about the wood I’m cutting up. Something that’ll run a 24-26” bar comfortably but not be a major handful. It won’t get a major amount of use per year so a good secondhand unit would be the go.

Having just reread this entire thread, there seems to be a few saws that would suit me but would appreciate maybe a shortlist to keep an eye out for. Cheers all.

Not sure that there are any new Stihl ones out there now - some of the Chinese part supply is golden but other bits need to be heavily tweaked to a) fit and b) actually work. Some of them might as well be from another saw... They generally all work to some extent in the Chinese knockoff products but when you want to replace obsolete OEM parts you're right, you need to be a little careful what you try to fit to them.

I have not used the exhaust bodies, closest I have got is a 036 exhaust cover and that did fit and work OK. The Farmertec or Huztl parts I have gotten in have all been relatively OK if a bit more cheaply finished and painted but for the cost no real arguments. If you replace four in the time of one OEM Stihl part you've still usually saved 1/2 the purchase price???

I reckon I’ll have a spare 024 muffler, which I think may be the same as the 026?
