    Don't get polyprop socks - they feel like the soles of my feet are being sandpapered. I tried 100% merino socks but they get holes in the toes and heels very quickly. Wool with nylon reinforced heel and toe is what I have used for a long time, and they are comfortable. Latest buy was some cheap wool socks with reinforced heel and toe with some sort of elastic thread which fit really well and don't slide down my feet in gumboots - so price is not the clearest indicator of quality.
