chances are the pellet was copper clad and thats verde de gris. i wouldnt touch it either
That looks rotten Micky ?
Yuk . We had 1 parry we shot on opening . It had been retrieved soon after shot
Next day mate plucked it pushed in a hole.in breast coupkw maggots came out. We had a few spoil over opening.which was a bit concerning. Next year might have to process them earlier .
Yeah,my thoughts too.he was pretty sad looking but strange thing.just hundred yards from where I shot him twelve, yes twelve harrier hawks sitting in row of willows.they had couple of teal pinned down under trees and I could see one carcase on bank.i figured anything else sick would have been eaten pretty quick so this drake remains a mystery.

It would take a bit more than apple sauce to make that one tasty mate
When hunting think safety first
Maybe the bloody hawks were piaying with it like it like a cat??I'm sure I've seen pix like yours from someone somewhere else way back when when steel first became a thing here?
Strangely enough seen mallard drake in middle of dairy pasture that hawks wouldn't eat either...and roadside too for that matter.weird.

I shot a swan the other week that looked really poorly. Didn't investigate for old pellets or anything but it was missing feathers and thin as.
