Like Gibo & others I think fresh is very good too but I also salt my bonito & find I get a better catch rate /average size.Especially on the Kontiki I find by alternating baits fresh & salted I get far better results than just fresh bait.
The commercially salted stuff has bad all the goodies removed where as my own is swimming in oil & juice.
Agreed Chris when I have salted bonito and squid in the past it has always been re-oiled with ultrabite fish oil but now that I have a vaccuum packer I can salt and vaccum pack then the whole lot stays in its natural juices and oil. I want to get some tua tuas at some stage so I can salt and pack some

I have a good source for bait, I know someone. I tent to use yellowtail mackeral or squid. Comes in big boxes tho so you need a big freezer
All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.
