    Ended up with 3.5kg. Found a better spot where bait won't go around my net when current slacks off a bit. Still a happy first outing for the season.

    I have never had a go r93, but my cousin has a house at Neil's beach and own 4 stands on one of the rivers close by.
    Hopefully next year I can get down and spend a few days catching the delicacy with you as my mentor!

    He either has stands on the Arawhata or Waiatoto. He would be on arguably the best 2 rivers in NZ. Better to learn off him as I just pot net and generally just fluke it

    Yep not sure which one.
    Last time I was down he took us jet boating and we ended up grounded with a decent walk back to the vehicles!
    Bloody nice part ot the world down there!

    Only 2.4 KG today. River was cleaner and only 100mm lower tide. Better spot imo but less bait. Had current on the inside of my net right thru the tide. Thought there would be a some trying to get up before she pisses down tomorrow. Caught some small 2lb trout on the softbaits but only seen one fish working the bait and it was about the same size.

    Had a heap of rain past few days but river was fishable today. Small tide but still managed a kilo. A lot more trout around today and seen several hammering bait that was destined for my net. I threw some softbaits at them and hooked a small one no bigger than a herring. The larger ones were probably just working the bait.
