Thread: Silhouette Rifle shooting NZ

Hi guys. Fell into a YouTube rabbit hole today, and when I emerged into the Auckland rain I had discovered silhouette rifle shooting. Wondering if there is any scene in NZ? Something about it caught my fancy. I know Waiuku Pistol has a rimfire silhouette range but that's all I've managed to find. Any others, centrefire or comps?

think a few of the pistol clubs further up north than me (all of them lol) do handgun metallic silhouette shooting, no idea what its like but anything involving shooting pistols cant be to bad

I've just been watching videos of US shooters pick off 5 steel .8m x .7m targets in a row, standing offhand with no sling or post support. At 500m for centrefire (usually in the 6mm range, some .308) and 100m for rimfire (targets 1/5 the size though, all basically 5MOA)

Rimfire rifle silhouette was popular, at least, in Otago in the 80's. Seems to have evaporated since then. It is certainly fun and the target either falls over or it does not. No questions about who won.

Still a few people shooting rimfire silhouette at Tokoroa. Tokoroa has a centerfire pistol silhouette range as well.

North Auckland NZDA does it about once a month. This Sunday they have one.
