    Plover recipe

Alright, here's the plover I got on Saturday, posted about it in the 'what pesties did you bowl over today' thread. I'm owning up to my promise of cooking one asap after I put up a post a while ago asking if anyones cooked them.

I salted this in the fridge for a few hours beforehand, then pan fried to medium (I think)..

Served on a parsnip puree, with a plum jus (plum jam + red wine + parsley stalk)

It tasted surprisingly good actually, texture was comparable to a rump on the tougher side. It was so appealing even Mum tried it! Tasted better than goose IMO, more like swan

Happy he took one for the team and did it for all of us - now most of us would not have bothered to try a taste test - but he needs praise from all of us - but he can keep them thanks

No. Thats not right. I tried it...you throw the stone away and eat the pot...it wont be much good for anything else after that....

A further variation on the said recipe: rummage around the garage for old work boot, leather is preferable, caked in dried mud/shit, stuff less than desirable bird into boot feathers & all, boil hard for a week, discard everything but the boot, boot shall be sufficiently tender & pleasing to the pallet

Sorry don’t have gut room for less than desirable fare, I’m confident in my hopeless shooting ability to stumble across something tasty

I'm with Micky Duck, people told me I was weird for eating possum, some people are too well fed, me included but my bank balance will fix that for me soon enough.

The last one I shot settled in a thin pink mist over a large area - but .220 Swift pill at 4000 fps will do that to small critturs
