I have always considered something that has no taste of itself and that you must put with something else to make it taste is worthy of deep suspicion. It's all said and done, a bulking agent to make tasty food go further in smaller and less expensive amounts - and this places tofu into the "subsistence" or "survival food" categories a bit like those cardboard food acid suppressors they put in life rafts to still be chew-able and digestible after 10 years.

In summary and in my opinion, only starving (either through lack of food or hippie fad or some other self-deprecating fad) or people not in their right mind would chose to eat this stuff - it's really a non event as far as foods go.

I suspect the eaters only get like that after the act of consuming.

Yes like a bean bag. A very squishy bean bag that can't be beaten back into shape with a few slaps. And that's only if its still in the packaging.

It also attracts infestations of vegetarians.

Ha. Makes me laugh when someone tries to trick a sheep and the sheep outsmarts them.
