You wont loose 500 grams off a barrel that easily especially a standard sporter barrel, maybe 100-200 grams max. As said above, a lighter stocks and rings, and the correct size scope for the type of hunting. I have a fully fluted barrel, bolt , rings etc etc on my tikka and weighs in at 3.4kg with bolt and full mag. Loose the suppressor!

best thing to do is start with a kimber, they are designed to be light from the factory. and they are silly light,
something designed to be a horse will never be as light as a deer
dont forget that light means it will kick harder.

Ultralight pack is a great idea, and is where im putting my energy now

someone else pointed this out a while back and there is huge gains to be made just by better choices that wont cost you 2k+

Everything I shoot & own is suppressed! After many years of shooting un suppressed guns my hearing has started to suffer. As they say "young, dumb & full of..." I'd rather pull the trigger than possibly put on some hearing protection & miss the opportunity of missing out on some venison. No doubt all the permanent damage was done then & now I'm very careful not to make it any worse. I'm not trying to be rude but it's ignorant to think that's its ok to damage your hearing for the sake of carrying a little extra weight in the form of a suppressor. Each to their own but have a careful think please before you do permanent damage to your hearing.

Young dumb and full of what?

I would say maybe 2-3 times in a year my ears are exposed to a gunshot without hearing protection, and its not often enough for me to worry about personally, and when im the shooter I don't tend to realize it, much like felt recoil. I do own suppressors on a few of my rifles but that comes down to personal choice and what rifle does which job.

Too each his own...I take it that you always hunt alone or with hunters with suppressed rifles...it's not the weight I would have issues with, but the extra length and the balance of the rifle. The number of shots fired by the average hunter in the wild per year would be minimal IMO...of course if you are going to have a yippee or are sighting in, then by all means put the hearing protection in or on.

Shot suppressed bush pig. Long barrel unsuppressed long range rig. Have time for muffs with long open country shots.

7oz?...are you sure about that...feels a hell of a lot more than that...and an extra notch tightened of the belt afterwards.

I thought I was being generous and built in the' Bush Poo' factor. Apparently the average bloke only dumps 4.3oz - the sample group obviously didn't include Bush Poo's.
