It's the same as the sectionalised military training firearms - they show the internal workings and are cut away to show into every area that controls contains or directs gas pressure so it can never be safely fired ever unless you replace every component including most of the screws and springs but - it's still a firearm. When I was in the NZDF they had them just stuck on a wall too. Shrug...
Was that at Ohakea , I was told that they had a big collection of sectionalised rifles ?. I still remember the F16/18's??? when they where there for some sort of exercise? , amazing sight when they took off.
