Im going to chance that you are taking the piss , but likely not .

You have no idea how much time I have spent on hold to that organisation , but believe me - its bound to be a hell of a lot more than Joe Blow who owns 4 firearms.

If the FSA answering service is indicative of the rest of the govt funded beauracracy in this country we are truly buggered.

I have no issue with the helpful people who eventually do answer the phone .

Random query - if I have a firearm that isn't currently registered, and I am looking to sell it; is it more logical to register it first, prior to selling or not? What are the pros/cons?

Selling a firearm will be a triggering event, that means you will have to register all of yours within 30 days. Even if that is your only one you and you you sell it you will still need to register that you have none.

If you are going to need to register in the near future you may want to start the ball rolling by getting your RealMe ID sorted.

If you haven't interacted with the registry at all yet then personally no I would not. Leave it up to the new owner to register it for the first time. You can save yourself 2 phone calls to the FSA this way and I don't believe you've done anything wrong.

The sale will be an "activating" event for you, and you will then legally have to register any other firearms you own.

Private sales are still a activating circumstance, it astounds me the number of people getting misguided advice off anywhere and everywhere except the FSA. Granted none of us are happy about the current situation but you also should be very careful about what and where you get your information from, ignorance is no excuse.

Thanks - duly noted. I'm primarily interested in the pro/con of when to register if contemplating a sale.
