i not pissed at all Brian, just want to show all on here what some people are like, and youce done that for us all

you will find that alot of people share my view Brian , and with an attitude like yours, you wont get alot of invites to go hunting

We hold different views on this that's all -I will not be emotionally black mailed by another person not to use public land on the license and don't expect you to "try" and say things like "people like you " --loosing argument Zharn and stand on your own two feet if you have a problem not try to disperse your ------what ever it is you have brewing away in there , now give me a man hug and go in peace

hunting on public land is just that 'public'
if ya don't want to share the hot spots with ya mates then don't take them.

i have mates that will go back after i've hunted with them in the an area, was the same when i was chasing hogs, i don't sweat on it lifes too short............ i have had a few double ups on areas when someones taken me out to a secret spot, which wasn't really so secret.

Its the way I figure it Kawhia , public land that every man and his dog can apply for and does apply for ???? why do people think they have the right to then put pressure on others because they hunted it first --someone hunted it before you and they don't complain

One of the wonderful things I have in my life is the will and want to share with others -it brings me much happiness
In saying all this I have no bone of contention in my mind with Z , quite the opposite and I hope we can run a dog together again in the future but that's up to you Z

The way I figure it, good spots are hard to find. It takes a lot of effort and good spots are easy to shoot out.

People don't control the land but if someone's nice enough to let you in on the knowledge they've gained through hard work its only right to show some respect. It may be legal but its a quick way to lose invites.

Were talking a piece of land on the hunting ballot you actually will get asked if you want to hunt when you hunt the area which has several other pieces around it -- were talking doc land here not private -its hunted by many others manyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

It ain't about property rights. It's about information.

Do what you like but if that's the way you operate don't expect many invites. Get out and find the spots the hard way yourself but don't be surprised when people are protective of the information they've acquired through hard yards.

It happens a lot here tussock, i have only one hunting "mate" that hasnt done it to me.
I respect the effort put in working out how to hunt an area effectively and as i have many of my own possies i dont go to other areas if i know its someones favourite area.
Even if i hunted the area before that person was born, i leave it for them, and we all get along.

With the place were talking about your quite wrong it is about property rights -one trying to stop another hunting a piece of land every man and his dog can hunt if they want to .The particular peice is not far from grounds I used to trial at in the north , across the harbor and surrounded by a few other spots -if you hunt the area sooner or later you hunt this area too -with or without Uplandnorthlander.
The spot I hunted with him was 10 years ago for a weekend and the following year for two day and not since then till three weeks ago .You might understand my attitude toward his comments understanding this . In saying that If he thinks I am cutting his lunch he needs to understand when he isnt there others are eating at the table because IT IS PUBLIC LAND OFFERED ON NORTHLANDS HUNTING BALLOT-DO you know how many go north to hunt -my god nothing is secret -these attitudes sound like surfers who think because this year they found a secret spot its theirs but behind them was a generation of others .

El B your ability to alienate yourself just by being yourself is legendary

I dont hunt birds but do hunt public land and if taking someone else I usually prefer to hunt new ground. That way if it turns out to be a good spot it becomes "our spot" and we will hunt it together or apart but ask if the other wants to come.
On the odd occasion I take someone to one of "my" spots I ask that they dont return and shoot the shit out of it, Most of the time they dont sometimes they do the ones that do dont come to anymore of "my" spots

My cousin and I shot a big, well known valley in the SI known to hold poor animal numbers and there were deer everywhere. I think for the roar there were 4 names in the access book. Two years later we went back and there were 50 names and not a deer in sight, but in the mean time it had been good.

Being shown a good spot on public land shows far more trust than being given access to a property. The difference is that while people can legally go there, not many people will KNOW to bother. Thats what your protecting, and thats what you expect people to respect.

There is a lot of hard slog footwork and unproductive days involved in finding good spots in unpopular areas.

ElB, noone is going to take much of a shine to your way of looking things, myself included.

Tussock , please dont speak for others as there are others like me that have no problem some shooting public land they also shoot - I think you gotta understand the Northland land layout and see whats on offer so close together and how many people travel spot to spot in the same day to find game -its not unusual its just hunting .I have enjoyed the spot we are talking about and shot it this year for the first time on 10 years - "one quail " but I enjoyed it for the beautiful running I can see my dog doing while quartering the land -there is more to hunting than just shooting
