It’s a small world, really interesting to hear you took him around deer. Interesting.

I had one of Bully's progeny - Rum was his name big dog - got him off John Finlyason PioPio who along with Lez were close mates with my father - also a keen Trialist and Judge
Les did alot of Judging too for mem - I actually never remember seeing him run a Huntaway - Heading yes many

@Tahr i doubt there's many shepherds in the whole of NZ without some form of Bully blood in their team. That man was a legend!!!

I had a bit to do With Les in the late nineties when he was at Rakanui(Kawhia). I remember him telling me that he much preferred breaking heading dogs because they were quiet and didn't annoy him, so he tended to take them everywhere with him. Whereas a Huntaway pup would usually yap and some days it was just best to leave them at home.
Speaking of the Bully blood, I got a Huntaway off a mate which Les had bred. She was a very useful bitch and I was often getting requests for pups out of her. I remember Norris Philburn looking over her blood lines and announcing with surprise that she was one of those rare bitches that didn't have Quinn in her history.
    Overkill is still dead.

I lived opposite Norris and went to school with his daughters.

@gsp follower I had a lovely black bitch by Doug out my Nan I called "Wake". Ran her at Alfredton a few times. She was inclined to drop her nose too. She would have likely been ok on deer, but never tried her.
