Nice looking terrier Shootm. Hard case dogs, I had one as a kid and went everywhere on the motorbike with me shooting.

Ground Control Good stuff. That's pretty typical accuracy from the 6x45, mine were the same straight up with 85gr & under. Good case/ powder volume / bullet combination, it was a popular BR round...

Yep, back about 1995 I built one on a medium action BSA Hunter, though it was an Ackley Improved version. Would send 100gr Hornady or Nosler BT out at just over 3300fps with 2213. I tried 115gr BTs...

30-06....that's a legendary calibre, carries nostalgia in the name alone. You could carry it in the hills of NZ with confidence and never feel under gunned. Give it a go, life's about variety.

They were a slip over shroud with a pinch bolt to clamp on the barrel, known as a range adaptor. 178426

To get an A1 or S491 PPC repeater with standard weight Hunter barrel will be a rare find, they do exist but usually in the hands of Sako nuts that won't part easily. The odd Target / Varmint model...

257R is a very capable cartridge for NZ, but you need to be a reloader that's for sure. I shot all my best animals of a 15+ year period with mine and only sold it on as I got hooked on 6.5mm stories...
