Thats a cracking ĵob on the Mallard for someone starting out !
I never had problems and mainly used the Sako 123grain bullets....used 150 Amax to good effect when reloading.
.seen a load of deer shot with the 150gr Corelockts...cant really go wrong with the 308...
a good mate had an A bolt...300 wsm from memory that was the model before the X bolt ? Either way it had a hard life and never let him down....i loved my Tikka WSM but wouldn't have been too worried...

I am sure it's not a private hut....we were on the tops and bailed out via this hut due to bad weather and from memory the road end was about 3 hours from this hut......
Found a photo that would have been taken in 1985 or 1986...can't for the life of me remember the hut name ?

I wouldn't chop or put a moderator the rifle, especially as its sentimental...just enjoy shooting it with muffs or plugs...only takes a few seconds to put em in even if hunting...when you are ready...
I took apart a No4 around 30 years ago and have finally got around to putting it back together...i can't for the life of me find the upper band screw ! Anyone have one for sale or know what size it...

I finally took the Krag out..got it zeroed at 100m and shot an inch group...super stoked...will take it hunting and keep you all posted....if anyone see's any of that Hornady factory ammo for sale...

Have you tried the 100gr Blue Box Federal....? I once used a Tikka 590 on its 3rd barrel that had shot thousands upon thousands of rounds of that ammo through it with obvious results.....gotta be...
Mate go draw a black 3 inch circle and put 5 of your best shots through it at 100 yards....if they are all in the black or therabouts a quick sale at $350 or hold out for $500...no cheating by...
