Planning on taking my "city kid" eldest grandson again on Labour weekend. Hopefully this time he will sound less like a freight train when we are in sneaky stalking mode.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

Sure thing VC but he is a bumble footed 12 year old city kid that doesn't know how to "shut the fuck up" so the odds on getting anything will be slim. The bonding will be good though and seeing as how he is already taller than me he will come in useful carrying shit up the hills.

Time to sort another hunt for the kids, Rose this time as Michael once again had hockey late Saturday and it was time I took Rose on her own. Bike loaded on the trailer and hooked up to Munster’s ute then we were off a farm that had a pig or two hanging around.. Forecast was not great but I didn’t care, just made sure we had a few changes of clothes.

Well what a weekend… Rain hail and shine …oh wait it didn’t shine…but we did have enough wind to have some spare for the fullars up north that seem to want some. Didn’t make a difference we were going hunting, Pigs the target. Turkey and Hare’s were also on the list but they have been left for another day
We drove some of the way in the pouring rain (I got the short straw and rode the bike)

Getting ready for the hunt (Rose doesn't look to comfortable.... rain down her neck but she did well and didn't moan once)

The plan was to get in a good vantage point and wait, 2 hours of hunkering down with horizontal rain driving against my back as I sheltered my daughter as best as I could and I was starting to wonder if the shitty conditions were going to keep the pigs in the bush… But the man with the knowledge of the area spied some movement… a group of pigs head our way

Shit they might come right to us but no they darted off but with the wind in our face we just followed until all could get setup and with a flurry of shots we had pigs on the ground …. And my kids new Marlin .223 blooded 5 days after getting it

Down to the pigs, quick gut and a pose for photos then load the kids up for the walk back to the vehicles, big smiles on their dials

Good nights adventure, Somewhat wet and cold but better than staying at home

Now just to make you hungry.... here is a leg from the Pig Rose got

Now I should have had it on earlier for a longer slower cook but it was stil very very nice... The Tee Tree log smoked nicely and with the brushed on coating it was bloody mint
