Lyman Gen 6 - Stopped while dispensing

I read some threads on this site regarding some minor issues with the Lyman Gen6 Powder dispenser.

I've had mine about 5 years, and never had a problem till today.

It was working perfectly, we had been dispensing loads for 12 gauge slug loads. It then stopped mid-way through dispensing, and the motor seemed to be making a soft humming noise. Switched it off for 15 minutes, and it started as normal, but did exactly the same thing. Left it off for about 3 hours, and it started dispensing perfectly for the fist 6 or 7 charges, then stopped again, same symptoms as before.

There appears to be no other faults with the machine, everything else working perfectly.

Anybody else encounter anything similar with a Gen6

My RCBS started doing strange things. Stopping well short of required setting.
I traced it to the power supply. Tested sorta OK but I replaced it and no further problems.

Thanks for that info. I've been running it off an extension cord, may try direct to the power point with the Lyman lead.

Unless it's really crook the extension lead shouldn't be an issue. But try it at any rate.

I've found the 2 rubber Orings need abit of lube every now and then.
Mine started straining and loading up while dispensing, a dab of oil sorted it

Just a bit of educated conjecture here on my part, but the humming motor is consistent with the need for a bit of lube. If it is stalling due to increased ‘drivetrain’ friction, it it very likely it will hum.

If this does not fix the problem, next port of call is power supply. If the down stream side of the supply is 12VDC (It will be written on the plug next to a flat or dashed line) I can suggest a ‘bush mechanic’ enhancement that you can try.
