Do we need a total rethink? When I look at all the development going on and consequent damage to the environment, I can't get too excited about the NZ pest problem. Yes, they should be controlled, but at what financial and environmental expense?

Can someone explain to me why trout and introduced ducks have prized status as game fish and birds, but deer are a pest?

I just got off the phone with Maggie Barry, Nick Smith and John Key and they all gave me the same answer. "Coz". So there you have it.

what about all the rats and possums that are in the city's! are they going to 1080 every city? "most likely not" so what will happen when the public reserves are pest free? do they think the pest will just stay in the city's? and wont spread and breed there way back to the bush? they should just let us hunt with our .22 on public land that would probably do a better job! and save a lot of money. but what would I know just another red neck trigger happy hunter... " sarcasm "

Couldn't agree more! I've had numerous conversations with mates about the same thing. My thought is, if your the type of person that would shoot native birds, you would do it with your 243, 270, 308 etc because you obviously don't give a F@&*!

Got the same problem as getting rid of pests on Stewart island, it's a big enough 'impossible' mission but how do you stop reinveasion from container ships, cruise ships, fishing vessels coming within 5 miles of the coast

Yay more green rain to fuck up our recreation. Looks like it will soon be like European hunting with big bucks on private land only. Unless they can do a genetically engineered species specific sexually transmitted super pox there's not a shit show.
Dig deeper into who owns the manufacture of and application of 1080 and you'll find they're probably donating more than an Auckland Chinese property developer wanting a passport.

And they want to put your rates into it so you pay more into the PFNZ gravy train.

This might be a great plank for the peters party to take power from the muddling pinks and old boys club blues.
It would be great to see them kicked off because of this prank plank and be forced to leave with their heads still jammed up where the sun don't shine.

The $28 million would be better spent on protecting abused children, health services and providing housing where needed.

The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

Anyone but these clowns. If they keep going the way they are you'll be getting chased by chinese gamekeepers everytime you go for a hunt.
