My go to is pate and a couple of cheesy buns.

The pate has heaps of fat, energy and flavour, everything you need and want. Not the best for day 6 of a mid summer hunt though

Game changer for us has been taking our home made Salami ,Pastrami ,Smoked Sausages ,Jerky & Biltong etc ,having the Biltong & Jerky to chew on the go really helps pushing on & helps with concentration during Glassing sessions & we have a system when we are Vak Pak'n where the sealed bags becomes a handy "serving dish / plate" all no mess or fuss .

can’t go wrong with a pavlova topped with mashed potato and garnished with a chop….
    at home.

When out for a hunt I usually like to take a venison steak sandwich and some lollies (natural confectionery snakes or dinosaurs)

boiled eggs go good too, or a resealable bag with some cold roast meat and veg with cuts of soft cheese mixed in that morning.

I also keep about 2-3 energy gel sachets you can get from the bike shop in the 1st aid kit on the belt.
Useful for the carry out or for those times when it seems like the road end is taking forever to reach.

Crackers/wraps or buns with salami/tuna, cheese, capsicum. Piece of fruit & nuts, snack bar for mid afternoon.

A nice orange can be a good option on hot days instead of water

If its just a quick day trip usually a osm or maybe some jerky and cheese.
If I have the time the night before and there is stuff in the cupboards I am a big fan of bacon and egg and cheese and onion toasties cold.
Two of those will keep you going from 2 in the morning till 10 at night if need be.

Just a couple of sarnies.... Cheese, ham or cold meat etc. Maybe a cold cooked saussie or steak from tea the night before. Nothing flash....

I avoid any food that dehydrates me. So tasty or not Salami and cheese are out. Complex Carbs are best for sustained energy and eating little snacks through the day is better than stopping for a substantial lunch.
I like something that lives in the freezer ready to grab- premade sammys and trail mix.

    Salami and cheese dehydrates you/us?

I find carbs like crackers and breads dehydrate me an will also give me the shits if eating for multiple days but can get away with one day.

Most places I hunt, it is pretty easy to re-hydrate. Water is never a problem and if I'm not sure I carry it.

Two sandwiches would only get me from breakfast to lunch just if I'm out doing stuff.
