Having only been on this forum for a short while it is absolutely amazing to me how many of your TRUE HUNTERS blindly accept all the crap dished out by the propaganda depts of the various self interested parties. top Gun, you seem to have stopped having a conversation about it and are attacking people- this is the sort of behaviour that has caused countless 1080 threads to be shut down

See I don't know enough about 1080 to give an informed opinion on the topic. Two friends I know (one of which works for DOC) say that its the best and most effective tool at eradicating unwanted species to increase our biomass of native and endangered species. They do however say there are places that need it and others that don't, and the timing of aerial drops plays an important component to how effective it is.

I've never been to a bit of bush pre 1080 drop and after so can't comment to say what immediate consequences take place for better or for worse. I do know one thing and that is if a deer or any meat animal for that instance are living in a 1080 zone, I sure as hell wont be taking the risk of eating something that isn't fully healthy and could contain remnants of the poison. Ill simply hunt else where.

Agreed. Trapping the marginal strip is achieving excellent results. But the initial and important knock down was achieved using 1080. And it will be required again to stop another decline. Reintroduction has nothing to do with survival rates on the rivers, which sadly is now falling again. Until another methodology is found, the cycle of 1080, trapping and 1080 again will need to continue if you want these iconic birds to survive and flourish

Although there are fuck all blue ducks in the Hinemaia & before the 1080'ing of the RHA there were quite a few!!!!!

Res, I merely reply in kind to the sort of crap that is targetted at me. If someone takes it personally then they can always send me a PM and we can discuss any differences of opinion privately,eh???

It is interesting that like all the twig & tweet brigade who I have met, none of them will accept a DVD copy of "Poisoning Paradise"!!! or admit to having watched it. Funny that.

All anyone needs to think about regarding this stuff is: The FBI have labelled it the second most dangerous SUPER TOXIN known to man & then ask yourself why is it banned practically everywhere else in the world????? AND: NZ is the ONLY country that aerially spreads it willy nilly all over the place, including onto farmland & poisoning/killing farm stock.
