I don’t recall National saying they want to kill off all introduced species and return our forests and streams to a pre European state.
So no they aren’t as bad as each other .

Just giving evidence of how sum (not all) machine operators work. I know the dollar is “king” In this “world” but this is a time when I feel each of us study the chopper operators & recognise which ones are quick to the government dollar (which is our money in reality as the biggest tax payers) and those operators who have ethical & moral hearts. When this blows over REMEMBER who you you’d rather fly with

Yip 👊🏽 We just got to REMEMBER. Even if others have to charge little bit more then I’d rather pay that extra bit for brothers who have guts

All someone has to do is start up and online list of Heli Operators participating in the Tahr Final Solution (I'd not call it "cull") and make it clear it will be left up for years after for people to refer to when seeking business. Will provide operators a valid plausible reason to withdraw from the DOC programme, one DOC cannot penalise them for.

And don't feel sorry for them when it comes to them needing to earn a crust. DOC has put other projects on hold to funnel money into the Tahr killing program, projects not involving expensive chopper time and so giving more employment.

Cull aside, many operators are on their knees post covid and few will be in a position to turn down that revenue.
Someone will end up doing it regardless of any internet list.

so to play devils advocate here.......if one of the good operators takes the job and leaves the bulls......thats better for hunters than another lesser experienced operator shooting the lot.
so realistically an experienced operator is a better bet for hunters... we can but hope some of the older bulls have memory and remember how to hide at first sound of the dreaded whop whop whop in the distance.

At the end of it all when there’s no Tahr left no ones going to be using the choppers so the operators are cutting there own throat by shooting there business , assuming they will be instructed to shoot what ever they see .

It's a quick buck now versus a long term source of income. Same with the commercial fishing industry.

It came onto the NZ register on 10-07-2012 for Laurie Prouting of Station Air Ltd at Mayfield, transferring to Mesopotamia Station from 11-09-2018.

It has now found a new home with Mick Gray out of Kaikoura.

Machine still appears to do some work around Mt Cook all the same - that was 6 mths ago. Wonder if it will get a new paint job with the new owner?

That would have been before it was sold, still being operated by Mesopotamia at that point I believe.

Heard two seperate reports that Tahrmageddon 2.0 has already started and that the Rangitata population has been obliterated. Can anyone one on here confirm if this is true?

Not going to argue that in parts the Rangitata population needed to brought down BUT it will be truly sad if the "obliteration/annihilation" account is true as this would have to be one of the more popular valleys for the recreational Tahr hunter and where many of us first cut our teeth on Tahr.
