Thread: Who Hunts with a semi auto?

I don't usually but recently used a farmer friend's Ruger 10/22 to get bunnies on his place, was great apart from there was something wrong with the 'scope and I couldn't get it sighted in properly. He tried too but couldn't sight it in either. He then told his wife she was getting a new 'scope for Xmas...ha!
Also used a SIG .308 Swiss military semi auto for (sorry to say) shooting from helicopters in Fiordland for a large venison retrieving operator in the mid '70s. Was a great rifle, very reliable.

I'm guessing the majority are used for rabbits and ducks.

I'm in the 3 out of ten that don't. I've never seen any one with a semi-auto when I've been out.
I only hunt deer , can understand bunnies etc, but find the poll results surprising

The poll was set up before the ban was announced. At that point anything could have been on the table.

Use of rimfire and 12ga semi-autos is clearly very popular in NZ, so I'm glad that we not going the way of Australia and banning all semiautomatic.
