past 300m I prefer 6.5 as I like the ballistics more, but if I spent time with .308 I'm sure I'd get used to it and be fine. I also have a stuffed shoulder that pinches the nerves and the creedmore with a muzzle brake means I can still feel my fingers after a day at the range.

a lot of the arguments here feel like the arguments betwen samsung and apple, ford and holden crap. they're so close together that there will never be a obvious best choice so just get what you like and don't be a goddamn weirdo online about it.

sorry mate, that was a generic comment about the online discussion around it, not you specifically.

God knows i spent so much damn time researching calibres before i bought my first hunting rifle that was wasted in restrospect.

yeah its all great stuff - good discussion especially at a hut or around a fire with a few beers - I know two rules after years shooting deer - blow a big hole if ya fluff the shot then with a decent caliber will at least give you a good blood trail - and if you are not sure then stalk a bit closer -
