You can get a Delux Blazer with a S&B illuminated recticle scope for $6K NZD over here.

How much is Hugh selling them for?

Alot of the baby boomers generation are hanging up their hunting boots and flooding the European market with high quality used Rifles, that's effecting the sale of higher end new guns.

    I don't understand "Blaser-mania".

How much would they cost if Miroku or Howa a produced them?

They have more warranty claims than any other Rifle I know of but still people pay a premium for them.

If there is one type of Rifle that's going to Fuck out when the guys have to do their shooting test it's going to be a blaser. The ones with the integrally suppressed barrel need a 40minute cool down after a 5 shot string.

Whilst someone is doing some Blaser bashing I'll jump on the wagon.

Cylindrical-collet locking lugs just to achieve straight pull, surely you lose a lot on primary extraction?

Mag is attached to the trigger... WTF??!

If you lose a mag that's sad, but mag and trigger pack? Probs cost the same a second hand rifle to replace.

Switch barrel is a cool concept but not when one barrel costs the same as a brand new Tikka (or more?!)

Manually cocking the bolt... if you really need a 'safety' feature like that you should not be shooting, as you would have needed to break every safety rule already to make it worthwhile.

Its funny how the most expensive stuff not just guns seems to be the stuff that shits its self the most and people keep buying it and defending it. It's almost like some elite club where you go and buy a piece of shit so you can brag about how much it cost and how often it fuks out

Only Blaser I've had experience with was an R8 and the bloody thing got its nice out of joint over a bit of dust and cold weather (icing) on a tahr trip and wouldn't go into battery, wasn't very impressed, old mate that was there with us had to do all the shooting with his Savage 110 lol

I've got a Blaser R8 in a carbon stock, I love it for the straight pull action, the rest of it doesn't really phase me. I love it because it does what it's meant to do, really well.

Can I justify the cost? No.
Will I ever sell it? I doubt it.

There just doesn't seem to be any cheaper options for a decent straight pull rifle.

Browning Nordic Maral? I tried out a fella's one at the range a few weeks back and it was really nice to use. Butter smooth action, 5 & 10 detachable box magazines, nice trigger and was accurate too.

    What's not to like.

The action is 30 metres long

The Blaser R93/R8 action is not only straight pull, it is substantially shorter than turn bolt actions making for a much more compact rifle. All other straight pulls im aware of are significantly longer than conventional turn bolts.

lol yes I agree, the action was quite long compared to a blaser. But the Maral does 'fling' back automatically once pulled back which is pretty handy.
