I had to wait to get my "lifetime" licence.
Had a warrant for my arrest unpaid traffic ticket was stopping it.
Between getting this ticket and finding out I was wanted I had been interviewed by the police after I was run over on my motorbike.
I must have been hard to find.
Knew most of the local cops personally.
Shows how much effort wasn't made by the police.
After I got the local cop out of the squash club to arrest me (pay my fine rather than contest) I took my brand new licence I then got with me to the local dealer to get reloading components primers, powder wads projectiles that long I can't remember exactly.
When I produced my newly acquired licence I was told under the new laws you don't need a license for components.
I thought about it for second and asked them the following could I buy an action this week a barrel next and later a stock and they said "yep isn't it ridiculous ".
I wonder how much say licence holders had in the drafting of the law.
The laws do need change and have for a long time.
Loopholes need to be closed and the inconvenience of having to produce your license to purchase firearms and related equipment is nothing really when you think about it.
But people who know about and use "guns" which is us need to have a input into tidying up the laws.
The general public would probably be surprised how licenced holders will promote sensible changes.
