    Rakiura Hunting Trip

Great 10 days down on Stewart Island. Weather was excellent most days, a bit hot some days.

My second trip to this area of the island. Last time was lucky to get my first buck. This time picked up a buck and dry hind.

    What worked well:

    - Garmin 66i and Fenix 7x
    - Kimber Montana 308 (235y and 50y shots)
    - Montane trousers from Further Faster in ChCh - @Stag put me onto these and after years in shorts and LJs won't go back.
    - Salomon trail running shoes. So good.
    - Kuiu game bags
    - @Southern lite pack was gold.
    - First Lite Kiln Hoody and hybrid jacket.
    - Mega jet burner and wok.
    - Stone Glacier synthetic tops.

I tried a Klymit Static V sleeping mat that a couple of mates say works well for them. Didn't suit me and found it uncomfortable.

Nice. 10 days is a good length of time to be there. Looks like you eat pretty well too What block?

    Looks like a epic trip.

Interesting comment about the Klymit mat, as I'm about to purchase that exact mat (or the UL version) myself.

The deer must walk into camp down there. Good work.

Well done on the deer, how many did you get all up? You can see why it’s so popular down there with all the great food you can get

Only the 2. Couple of misses and we lost one despite looking for hours. You really need to drop them on the spot.
