I have Dmax 3.0L. It's been a very good buddy to me so far on the off-road trips I made. You should do the test drive.

    Update got mine back today

They now use a thicker oil to stem the issue. Got to head back to dealer in and month and depending on how much its used i get a drum of oil or a new motor hahahahaha

On the plus side got a great trade in price on the new one.

On a side note they were saying the v6 amrok is allowed to burn upto 1L per month or 6000kms as normal usage
Same motor thats been in tourage for years just detuned and wait there is more a 200kw plus over boost version is next on the list.

It is my understanding that some engine manufacturers are building their engines with idea of reducing friction in the engine by increasing some of the tolerances. The idea being that this makes the engine more (fuel efficient) but naturally increases the use of oil. Or it's all bullshit.

Never check the oil in my Ford between changes, oil usage would piss me right off. Just thinking about trading mine in for a new Ute. Probably another Ranger there’s some awesome deals about, 23% off the BT50, 20 off a Ranger, Holden was cheaper than both again!

Wtf 1l/month for a new vehicle.... Never had any oil leaks in my 20yr old landcruiser till last month, it needed 100ml... Out of 9.5l that's not bad and it's probably because I didn't put enough in 6months ago

So how often does a new vehicle need an oil change vs an old one? My old girls lucky if she gets new oil every 12months since it won't even do 5000km in that time lol.... Bit of a thread hijack sorry

They shouldn't need anything between services.
But in saying that, the vehicles we've seen at work with issues have only been used for short runs and they've never been used properly.
